January assessment: Learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).
WWW- Much better organisation of ideas and a real effort to use some theorise and evidence to answer the question pluralist, citizen journalism, producers ect.

EBI- your poor written English really does make your arguments hard to follow. There needs to be a clear, concise topic sentence arguing a point in relation to the question for each paragraph.

Good referring theory but your lacking examples and key quotes from our list of possible examples/ references and viewpoints to include/ evaluate.

2) Read through the mark scheme (go to the last two pages of the document - Section B New/digital media). Of the six different statements for each level (e.g. A sophisticated and comprehensive essay, showing very good critical autonomy.) write which level you think YOU are currently working at for each one. Explain WHY and, for any that are not Level 4, what you are going to do to improve in that area.  In my opinion from the mark scheme I find that in between Level 1 and Level 2
Level 1 (1-3 marks)
A basic evaluation.
Basic application of some media debates/issues/theories.
Some examples included.

Meaning may be obscured at times by weaknesses in written communication.

Level 2 (4-6 marks)
A satisfactory evaluation, showing critical autonomy.
Adequate application of a number of media debates/issues/theories.
Supports answer with examples.
Generally clear expression.
So in this case the main areas that i'm going to stick at improving are my evaluating skills and my the types of examples I use within my Essay to ensure that I have a clear and by improving it will much more of a proficient evaluation, showing good critical autonomy. And
Proficient application of a range of media debates/issues/theories by proving this to the examiner it will then mean that will be able to go up to the next level.

3) Look at the Examiners' Report for this particular paper. Read page 10 - Section B New/digital media. How many of the good points or higher level answer examples did you include in your essay? What were they? What could you have added to improve your mark?
I think in order for me to improve my mark i have to ensure that they I use topic sentences to ensure that i meet the criteria therefore the examiner will understand what i am actually talking about and know which question that i am talking about.

4) Read through these exemplar A grade essays from previous Media graduates. What do these essays offer that yours does not? Identify THREE things you can take from these essays to improve your own responses in future.
firstly their is a sharp focus on the question and their is also a deep understanding in the actual question which means that they are referring back to the question at all times when they start new paragraphs, Finally, their is also a variety of question that allow the examiner to see that the person who is writing has done his/her revision.

5) Write ONE new paragraph for your January assessment essay. Ideally, this should be a section you did not cover in your original essay. This paragraph needs to be comprehensive and meet the criteria for Level 4 of the mark schemeMinimum 300 words.
Media has the ability to bring relief in a generation of couch potato who rarely engage in outdoor activities. it has become rarer to find someone who has good handwriting since typing is now preferred skill. Conversely, media has brought about positive sense of globalisation and has been good for education. children of today learn languages faster thanks to media. They may however be exposed to rated content which overall chew on the moral fibre of society. Check and balances therefore have to be better enforced to protect little eyes and ears.
